In this Voices From the Expressive Therapies Summit Episode, I got to interview Nancy Scherlong about her work and practice specializing in various therapeutic writing approaches.
Nancy S. Scherlong, LCSW, PTR, CJT, M/S is a licensed clinical social worker in the states of NY and CT, a registered poetry therapist, certified journal therapist and a trainer in both methods. Nancy is a writer and integrative psychotherapist specializing in traumatic stress and addiction recovery. She has used therapeutic writing and psychodramatic action methods for over 25 years. She provides workshops as well as distance coaching, consultation and training services. She teaches in several New York area graduate social work programs, is on the core faculty of the Therapeutic Writing Center and is a member of the training staff at Kint Institute. Nancy is also an instructor at Journalversity, an international online community of writers, teachers, journal keepers, therapists and lovers of words. She also serves as current co-president of the International Federation for Biblio-Poetry Therapy (IFBPT). Nancy has been featured in several articles, is a published poet and is the co-author of a chapter in Creative Arts-Based Group Therapy with Adolescents, Eds C. Haen and N.B. Webb.
