Jeffrey Jamerson, MA, PhD (c), has over 20 years of experience in the public sector. He has served at-risk youth in various capacities, most recently as the Vice President of programs and services at Aviva Family and Children Services in Los Angeles. Hoping to create a shift in how therapy is conducted with foster children, he has integrated narrative and expressive arts modalities with digital art media, which he calls Expressive Remix Therapy.
Dr. Jamerson's origins are one of the Breakbeat culture of the late 70's and early 80's. He shares about how his connection to breakdancing, rap music and Hip-Hop influenced his work with at-risk youth and his development of Expressive Remix Therapy.
Dr. Jamerson shares multiple software applications that can easily be integrated into multi-modal therapy interventions whether in-person or via telehealth.
For those wanting to learn more about Dr. Jamerson's approaches, he will be teaching a 3 hour workshop on May 1, 2021 at the upcoming LA Expressive Therapies Summit entitled,
Digital Media Arts: Therapeutic Interventions for Adolescents & Others. This experiential 3-hour workshop is designed to give participants hands-on experience in using digital media art with students and clients. Participants will learn about apps, software, and new media resources for creative expression, and explore how to use these resources as a therapeutic intervention when working with clients. Additionally, they will learn how narrative and story creation can be augmented through the medium of digital media art.
