End of the Year Review
It is that time of year again.
Time for review, reflection and revision.
Every author or speaker that discusses business mastery always shares on the importance of this process.
It is how we can
determine the health and wealth of our business and make adjustments to build upon or improve in those areas.
Every year I develop a strategy for what I want to attain in the business and any changes to be implemented to help get the business there. This strategy might include financial metrics, launching a new product or service, office relocation, building a new website or metrics related to marketing practices. I try to narrow it down to a few things to stay focused.
At the end of the year, I review the impact of that strategy. What do the numbers say? What was integrated effectively or not at all? What was the impact of our efforts?
It is important to
take time to
reflect, especially
on the SUCCESSES of the year.Acknowledge them.Celebrate them.
It is hard work building a thriving practice.
When areas of improvement are identified,
I don't beat myself up over it. The effectiveness of some strategies may require longer time to manifest in a meaningful way.
When I first began selling a 12 hour course on Supervision, I only had a few registrants. Did I want to reach full capacity - of course. Fast forward five years - we regularly fill that training four times per year. It took time, but we got there.
I do brainstorm ideas on how to meet the end goal using different means than I had originally employed. That is the revision process. I test them against one another. For example, when I first started selling the courses I made post-cards and sent them out to promote the trainings to licensed folks within a certain mile radius from our office. While the results were meaningful, I recognized there was room for greater reach. I then began using a CRM to send mass email campaigns promoting the training events to licensed folks in the entire state. This resulted a significant greater return.
I also look at what programs and trainings are being offered that I may invest in to up level my skills so that I may more effectively accomplish my goals. Continued learning is an essential aspect of business growth and development.
As you prepare for your upcoming year in business, consider joining the
Creative Arts Practice Builder Mastermind Group. It is a 6 month commitment from February to July.
I recently heard someone say,
"You pay greater attention to what you pay for."
It makes complete sense. When we pay for something, we show up in a different way. We prepare in a different way. We also may be willing to do things that we normally might shy away from because of accountability.
Being part of a paid group provides opportunities to connect with other individuals just as dedicated to growing their business. We support one another, celebrate each other's wins, share resources and I offer mentorship and coaching. I look forward to this group every year.
